Game Rules

Ball Size: Size Three (3)
Field Size: 10 yards x 15 yards
Goal Size: 5-foot-wide "pop-up" goals should be used.

Number of Players:
  1. The maximum number of players on the field per team at any one time is four (4). The game is played without a goalkeeper.
  2. The maximum number of players on roster should not exceed eight (8).
  3. Substitutions are unlimited and are allowed during any dead-ball situation and for injuries.
  4. Playing Time: Each player shall play a minimum of 50% of the total playing time regardless of skill level, and, as long as the child arrives prepared to play in the proper uniform; is not sick or injured.
The Referee:
  1. The coaches will serve as the referees on the field.
Duration of the Game:
  1. Each game begins with a 25 minute "practice" session, followed by a game. Game duration is not firmly set and will be dependent upon the interest level of the young players. Typically, a game should last for a maximum of thirty (30) minutes.
  2. Coaches will determine appropriate break times. Breaks should be brief and only taken as necessary to provide refreshments and to make substitutions.
The Start of Play:
Play should be started by coaches' kicking or rolling the ball into the field of play.

Ball In and Out of Play:
Any ball crossing the touch line or goal line should be redirected back onto the field of play by the coaches or facilitators of the game to best keep play in progress. Players shall not take throw-ins or kick-ins.

Free Kicks:
Free Kicks are not applicable for this age group. Play should be restarted after a stoppage by coaches as soon as possible to best keep play in progress.

Offside:
The offside rule is not applicable to this age group.

Misc. Rules:
DO NOT KEEP SCORE!!!!

·         Play according to the laws and spirit of the game.
·         Be on time and be prepared for matches and training sessions.
·         Display self-control in all situations. Never use foul or abusive language - before, during or after a game or training session.
·         Train and play to the best of your ability, have a positive attitude, and encourage others to do the same.
·         Respect the opposition. Treat them as you would like them to treat you.  
·         Respect the referee. Never dispute his or her decisions. They are only human and they make mistakes, just like you.
·         Show up for practice and games in appropriate and clean clothing.
·         Wear the right sort of footwear (laced tennis shoes or cleats).
·         Always wear shinpads.
